Special Events this Month:

January 17, 2026 – 10:00am – 1pm – Winter Support Your Parks (Open to All)
Location: Island Lake State Recreation Area – Meadow Group Camp Site

W8KNX hosts the Winter POTA event for the Club! Join your friends from SLAARC for some Winter POTA Fun! The event is scheduled for 3 hours, but feel free to come and go as you wish. This is an ALL-WEATHER outdoor event, so make sure to dress warm!

Coffee, hot chocolate, and maybe even chicken soup will be provided.


Monthly Events:

January 11, 2026 – 7pm – Club Technical Meeting (Open to All)
Location: Witch’s Hat Depot, South Lyon, MI

Join us for the club’s regular monthly technical meeting where we explore a number of amateur radio adjacent topics and socialize as a club. This meeting is open to the public.

Many club members meet before the meeting at the adjacent Witch’s Hat Brewing Company for a social dinner. The dinner begins at 5pm and goes until 6:30pm.

January 30, 2026 – 4:30pm – Two-Beer Social (Open to All)
Location: SuperNatural Brewing, Livonia, MI

Join us on the final friday of each month throughout the year to try a local beer and have conversations about Ham Radio projects! This event moves around each month, allowing us to try the many vibrant craft breweries and restaurants in the Metro-Detroit area.

This month we’ll be meeting at Super Natural Brewing, in Livonia Michigan.

January 24, 2026 – 9:30am – Amateur Radio License Testing (Must be registered)
Location: Witch’s Hat Depot, South Lyon, MI

Are you ready to ascend to the next license? Or simply ready to test for your first Technician License? The SLAARC Club hosts a monthly VE Testing session which will allow you to test for your Amateur Radio License!
Please be sure to register by visiting the following link to schedule your testing session!

Weekly Events:

Thursday Evening 10pm – The Late-Night Roundtable on N8SL. (Open to all licensed Amateurs)

The Late-Night round table brings a bit more casual conversation with other night-owls on the repeater N8SL (147.040+ 110.9pl). This is not a formal net, so feel free to come by, jump into the conversation whenever a topic peaks your interest.

Hosted by N8JRD, W8KNX, W8TMB or W8MCV we’d love to have you for a late-evening chat!

Sunday Evening 8pm – The Official SLAARC Information net (Open to all licensed Amateurs)

Join us to chat about your recent radio achievements, hear club news, and have a chat with other club members. The weekly Sunday Evening net is the official NET of the SLAARC club and occurs on each Sunday on N8SL (147.040+ 110.9pl) where the club doesn’t have a regular monthly in-person Meeting!

As a reminder, we’re always looking for club members to volunteer to run the net! Please check out the sign-up sheet and help support our club activities if you are able!

Saturday Morning 8:30am – In Person Radio Breakfast – In-Person (Open to all)
Location: Lucas Coney Island, South Lyon, MI

Join a group of club members on Saturday morning to get your day started right! Chat radio and life with other like minded folks over your choice of breakfast at the South Lyon Lucas Coney Island. The event starts at 8:30am and runs as long as you’re willing to sip a warm cup of coffee! See you there.
