It’s HAMVENTION month! One of the largest Ham-Radio get togethers of the year happens just south of the South Lyon area. Many club members look forward to the show each year, and this one is no exception. We hope to see you at the fairgrounds!
Mini Technical Program: Friday May 9th at 7:30pm – Zoom Session (Open to all)
We’re also planning a hands-on FT8 help sessionvia Zoom. This informal workshop will walk through setting up WSJT-X and making local FT8 QSOs.
To participate:
- Please have WSJT-X installed
- If you’re on Windows, also install BKT TimeSync to ensure accurate clock sync
This is a great opportunity to get started with FT8 or fine-tune your setup. Zoom link is available to club members via email. If you are interested in attending, please email K8ERS who will be hosting the session.

The monthly club-meeting is an opportunity for members to meet in person and share a dinner (optional) at the Witch’s Hat Brewing Company (starts at 5pm) before proceeding across the street to the official meeting place. Club meetings occur at Witch’s Hat Depot starting at 6:30pm, and generally last 1 hour. Topics for each months meeting will be posted prior to the meeting. This event is open to anyone with an interest in the club or amateur radio. You do not need to be a member to join us!
Monthly: 2-Beer Social Radio Hour: Friday May 30th @ 4:45 pm – In-Person (Open to all 21up)
Come check out our “2-beer Social” and chat about radio projects with other like minded folks! We would love to see you and raise a pint with some club members to talk about the hobby and enjoy a cold brew at the end of the week. Occurs the last Friday of each month from 4:45-7:00pm (or beyond, feel free to come a bit late if your work or commute dictates). Join us as we explore the semi-local microbrew scene!
This month we will meet at Draught Horse Brewing Co, in New Hudson Michigan. Draught Horse offers a menu of food in addition to a wide variety of different beers! If the weather permits, an outdoor patio space offers nice fresh open air opportunities to enjoy the Michigan spring weather.
Weekly: Sunday Evening 8pm – The Official SLAARC NET (Open to all licensed Amateurs)
Join us to chat about your recent radio achievements, hear club news, and have a chat with other club members. The weekly Sunday Evening net is the official NET of the SLAARC club and occurs on each Sunday on N8SL (147.040+ 110.9pl) where the club doesn’t have a regular monthly in-person Meeting!
As a reminder, we’re always looking for club members to volunteer to run the net! Please check out the sign-up sheet and help support our club activities if you are able!
Weekly: Thursday Evening 10pm – The Informal Late-Night Roundtable. (Open to all licensed Amateurs)
The Late-Night round table brings a bit more casual conversation with other night-owls on the repeater N8SL (147.040+ 110.9pl).
